A call for charity by the co-founder of Polygon
This is following a tweet from Sandeep Nailwal, the co-creator of Polygon of Indian origin, that fundraising was set up.
The co-founder added that he had heard from people wanting to make a donation but having an apprehension of the regulatory and tax aspects of it. He therefore reassured them by revealing that he had the support from community members and one of India’s top chartered accountants who will take care of all these issues.
A donation of 100 ETH and 100 MKR by Vitalik Buterin
A call for help to which the community responded quickly and in particular Vitalik Buterin, the founder of the Ethereum blockchain. The latter having donated 100 ETH and 100 MKR, i.e. approximately € 212,000 and € 373,000 respectively for a total of € 585,000.
A generous donation to which Sandeep Nailwal replied on Twitter.
Other major players in the industry such as Balaji Srinivasan, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Coinbase, also participated. The latter having paid more than 45,000 € in ETH, and promised to pay $ 50 for each retweet of the call for donations up to a maximum of $ 100,000. A ceiling quickly exceeded and directly followed by a donation in Bitcoin.
This is not the first time that Vitalik Buterin shows charity. At the beginning of February, he had already made a donation to help the most needy with GiveDirectly. You too can help India on the site https://cryptorelief.in/. So far, more than $ 1.7 million has been collected from the crypto community.
