That writes the French news site LSA. The launch of Picnic in France is happening in a similar way as in Germany three years ago. Then the online supermarket under the name ‘Sprinter Supermarkt’ started in Germany.
It is still a test, the French site learns. Interested parties must register for the trial via a form. It is not known if and when the trial will be expanded further. Picnic CEO Michiel Muller says he finds an interesting market in the FD France: ‘There is something in the field of online shopping, but that is picking up at the supermarket and not home delivery.’
In the Netherlands the name TocToc is known from the comic with Obelix, who taps his temple when he sees a Roman. On this site it appears to be a French delivery service, just like in the Netherlands, according to the Picnic setup. So from now on, in addition to a new brand name in retail, it is the sound of the driver knocking at the door in France with the groceries.
