Mining crypto with your car? The crazy bet of a Canadian company

The Canadian manufacturer of electric vehicles Daymak will offer an electric car that can mine cryptocurrency when it’s not in motion.

The crypto fever comes to the automotive sector

Daymak, the number 1 brand of light electric vehicles in Canada, announced yesterday that its electric car will be able to mine Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Doge (DOGE) by charging or being parked.

When announced on Tuesday 1er June 2021, the manufacturer clarified that the model “Spiritus” would be offered for sale in 2023, and that it would be equipped with a range of graphics processors of choice for cryptocurrency mining. The technical details of the performance of these facilities have not yet been clearly disclosed. The Canadian company also said: “Daymak Spiritus will be the first car in history with an on-board mining set-up, Nebula, and crypto technology integrated into the user interface”.

The Spiritus model is intended to be an “eco-friendly” node, including the mining set-up Nebula, the crypto wallet Nebula, and solar recharging capacities. The company emphasized the value of investing in Spiritus cars, making it clear that unlike all other car models, Spiritus would be a deflationary asset:

“While most vehicles lose value when lying in your garage, Nebula miners will generate income for you when your Spiritus is parked. “

The twitter account with 436k followers Bitcoin Documenting reacted with humor to this announcement, indicating that this innovation was both superfluous and incredible.

The crypto wallet Nebula will also offer staking services for drivers, and will support “Bitcoin, Ethereum, Doge, Cardano (ADA) and many others”. In order to be in line with its approach, Daymak now offers pre-orders for its models and accepts payment in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano and Doge. Partnerships are being signed to offer crypto leasing payment offers.

But then, what price for these technological jewels? Two price ranges are to be counted: a “deluxe” model starting at $ 19,995, and an “ultimate” model starting at $ 149,000. The price differences between the two models appear to be related to battery life and driving experience, but not to the performance of cryptocurrency miners.

This is not the first time that a mining set-up has been carried in a car. Indeed, the “crypto-convinced” Simon bryne installed a rig in his BMW i8 in January, and estimated the earnings to be around $ 122,000 over the year.

Does an electric car company engaged in the crypto universe remind you of anything? Good game ! This news is probably pulling the rug out from under Elon musk. You’re here has been offering home electricity production solutions with solar panels and their Powerwall since the start of 2021, and Elon musk said he contacted North American miners to develop more environmentally friendly mining solutions. We know the craze of the American billionaire for cryptos, and it seems inconceivable that the idea of embarking cryptocurrency miners has not crossed his mind. Anyway, Daymak intends to come and walk on these flowerbeds, and this is not to displease us.
