The famous Luxembourg fashion brand will be sold to the Breuninger group. He thus got his hands on the store located at City Concorde in Bertrange, as well as a sales area in Munich.

Just seventy years ago, one of Luxembourg’s most memorable commercial sagas began: Jean Bram set up his sewing and clothing workshop in … his attic. He was only 23 years old. Today, the Bram house (now Konen) has grown considerably. The small boutique at the beginning has given way to a group with two major points of sale, the most famous of which remains the brand open to the City Concorde shopping mall. On Monday, however, the story began a new chapter with the resale of the business to German fashion group Breuninger.

Transaction amount? Unknown. The two partners preferring to remain silent on this figure and the trade agreement which has yet to receive the approval of the German Federal Cartel Office. Follow-up to the Luxembourg store? A priori, no question for the new owner to part with the 11,000 m2 of sales area and the staff working there. Because with this brand and that of Munich, Breuninger will be able to have 700 new employees to offer clothing and fashion accessories in 13 stores.

Two family traditions

“Like us, Breuninger firmly believes in retail. We are culturally very close and embody similar values for customers and employees ”, simply commented Gabriele Castegnaro, Managing Partner of Konen and member of one of the founding families. It is true that Breuninger is a family and traditional brand, established since 1881 now.

All the staff of the Luxembourg site received confirmation of this takeover on Monday. So here they are integrated into a group already weighing 5,500 jobs, and well established in online sales.
