[marketeer 144] Ella Fortuin connects people to brands with Brands Connected

1. Happy New Year. What do you have with marketing?
‘You too! My name is Ella Fortuin – Ruigrok. I am founder of Brands Connected. For more than 10 years I have been involved as a PR specialist in many lifestyle campaigns of beautiful brands that want to reach consumers in the right way. This year I started my own company: Brands Connected. I have my own vision on marketing and PR. That vision focuses on personal impact. If there is one, if people are personally affected and interested, then you are on the right track. ‘

2. How did you come up with the Brands Connected concept?
‘My pleasure in mediating and in making the right matches between two parties, in combination with my vision and knowledge of the market, led me to found Brands Connected. Brands Connected links personalities with a wide range to brands that match well with their profile and vice versa. I am convinced that real impact can only be created if there is the right connection between personality and brand. Our goal in a collaboration is always to give a brand story a personal impact.

My idea for this concept has arisen in recent years due to all the changes that I saw taking place in the market. Reaching consumers is no longer the way it used to be. Print is increasingly moving to online. Online increasingly to social media. Marketing budget goes to influencer budget. And PR is inextricably linked to influencers and ambassadors. Why? Because we are all looking for recognition and personality. I think that many brands can still make a difference, as a brand, make sure you have the right connection. By linking you as a brand to the right influencers and ambassadors, your brand story is told in an authentic way. And that is what appeals to consumers and gives them recognition. ‘

3. Isn’t starting a PR agency extra tricky in times of crisis?
‘A normal PR agency might be ;-) Brands Connected is not a regular PR agency. People are more than ever online in this current Covid-19 crisis. Consumers are more on social media and make even more online purchases than before. If you don’t respond to that as a brand… well… then you will miss the boat a bit at this time, I think. So Tricky? I think sitting still in a time of crisis is more tricky for brands. ‘

4. Since when has the brand been on the market? How introduced?
Monday, November 9, 2020 the website www.brands-connected was launched via my Linkedin. And via personal cards and messages to my extensive network plus via the Instagram channel brands_connected.

In addition to launching the website, we also announced that we have the honor of being the first to represent Ruud Gullit and Dafne Schippers in our exclusive Brands Connected Personalities team. Unfortunately, we could not celebrate a physical party, with the current COVID-19 measures. But thanks to The WIebes agency that made the Brands Connected website exactly as Brands Connected wants to present itself, it was a party online. The launch notice on linkedin was viewed over 9,000 times. ‘

5. What are your ambitions?
‘Creating a business model in which the connection between personalities and brands results in greater reach, better engagement and more profit for both parties. Personal contact is key for me in this. That makes my company more fun to work with, and makes the collaboration more real. And that will absolutely show in the final result. That is why we work according to. our own connecting method. ‘

6. Which customers have you already started with and what do you do for them?
‘A great collaboration between Nepresso and Dafne Schippers has recently appeared in honor of the latest Nespresso Machine: Vertuo. At the invitation of Nespresso, Dafne went to drink coffee with Lienke de Jong from the platform Dear good morning. Together they discuss their great moments and inspiration in life. A wonderful collaboration with Ruud Gullit and a very nice fitting brand will also follow in early 2021. We are also in advanced talks for Dafne for a sustainable collaboration for 2021. Brands Connected believes in sustainable partnerships, so we are now in full discussion with various parties for the 2021 annual plan. marketing annual plans and how we can connect the right ambassadors to this. ‘

7. What do you think are good examples of brands that are linked to personalities?
It has been years ago and they now work with other ambassadors, but how Nespresso managed to bind itself to George Clooney is very clever. As soon as you say “What Else?” do you think about George? I think football star Lieke Martins and Calvé peanut butter are another good example. This collaboration is so sustainable and authentic because it contains so much recognition and personality. The fact that this collaboration is shown on various channels also increases the authenticity of the match. ‘
