As of today, HHLA is the majority owner of the multifunctional terminal “Piattaforma Logistica Trieste” in Italy. The Hamburgers hold 50.01 percent of the Italian port. The transshipment facility there will in future be called HHLA PLT Italy. It is scheduled to start operating in February. Most recently, the Italian Council of Ministers approved the takeover, and the other formal implementation conditions were also met.
Angela Titzrath, CEO of HHLA: “When the contract was signed on September 28th last year in Trieste, there was enormous encouragement, especially from Italy, for our commitment in the Adriatic port. Together with our Italian partners and the motivated workforce, we want to develop HHLA PLT Italy into a major southern hub within our port and intermodal network. “
The new HHLA facility has a size of 27 hectares and is located in the free port of Trieste. From there you can trade very well with Central and Eastern Europe.
