Portofino Resources: Promising Results from South of Otter – Columns

Gold Explorer Portofino Resources (TSX-V POR / FWB POTA) is working hard to generate promising targets for early drilling on its South of Otter gold project. For this purpose, geochemical investigations were carried out on the property in October / November, which have now produced promising results!

South of Otter is located in the famous mining region of Red Lake (Ontario) and is only 8 kilometers east of the Dixie project, its successful exploration Great Bear Resources (TSXV GBR) made one of THE success stories in the mining sector. The Portofino area is also adjacent to the Red Lake Gold Project of Dixie Gold (TSX-V DG) – and both companies recently successfully used the analytical method to define gold exploration targets that Portofino has now also used!

This is the so-called SGH (Soil Gas Hydrocarbons) process, in which hydrocarbon residues, which are formed when naturally occurring bacteria that feed on gold in the rock, are recognized and analyzed. These residues then migrate to the surface in a flow of various hydrocarbon classes or decomposition products.

Portofino collected 168 soil samples on the Yellow Jacket and Cliff Zone gold targets, which were trenched in 2020. The trench locations resulted in the discovery of new gold mineralization on the South of Otter Property, and channel and chip sampling from the trenches returned results such as 1.09 g / t gold over 0.58 meters and 0.22 g / t gold over 0.35 meters . In total, the Portofino soil survey extended over a total area of around 160,000 square meters, and the SGH analysis method succeeded in delineating gold-in-soil anomalies near the Yellow Jacket and Cliff zones!

According to the laboratory that carried out the analysis (ActLabs), the subjective certainty of detection of the SGH examination with regard to the anomalies in the Yellow Jacket trench was 5.5 on a scale up to 6.0, which means that a ” there is a good “chance of mineralization occurring. The anomalies in the area of the Cliffs trench were certified with a certainty of proof of 4.0, so that here too (just under) a “good” certainty of proof was achieved (ActLabs).

Portofino will shortly be sending its geologists back to the South of Otter project to expand geochemical studies. As part of the second phase of the soil sampling program, around 215 additional SGH samples are planned in the area of the extended grid of the cliff and yellow jacket zones. Portofino will thus double the size of the area covered during the first phase.

Conclusion:

David Tafel, CEO of Portofino, rates the results of the limited SGH sampling program to date on the South of Otter as “very promising”. The approach has already proven itself for Great Bear Resources on the Dixie project and promising results have also been achieved on the adjacent Dixie Gold project. Portofino is still in the early stages of exploration, but the results so far appear promising. Risky investors who want to speculate on the proximity to Great Bear should at least put the company on the watchlist.
