The construction work on the Tesla construction site in Grünheide near Berlin can continue. Brandenburg has agreed with the US automaker on a longer period to pay a security deposit for possible dismantling costs.
Potsdam / Grünheide – The US electric car manufacturer Tesla can continue building on the construction site of its planned factory in Grünheide near Berlin. Brandenburg has agreed with Tesla on a longer period until January 15 to pay a security deposit of 100 million euros for possible dismantling costs, the Ministry of the Environment informed the German Press Agency on Wednesday.
The company also promised safeguards for all early permits for construction work in a comfort clause. Tesla had not provided the security deposit by December 17 after an early approval for forest clearing and the installation of machines. Work then ceased, the state initially only extended the deadline to January 4th. The dpa had received the letter from the state environmental agency to Tesla.
