The European Commission has authorized the marriage of PSA and FCA, announced at the end of 2019 which should give rise to the world’s fourth largest automotive group by volume and the third by turnover. The new industrial complex will therefore bring together emblematic brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Jeep, Alfa Romeo and Maserati under the same entity. For both players, the primary objective remains to achieve economies of scale by pooling research, design, purchasing, production and networks. “The annual and progressive synergies are estimated at approximately 3.7 billion euros, without a plant closure” announced the two groups in early December.
