Leppa shows resilience and launches winter variant Lepski

Especially for Christmas, and only this year, the entrepreneurs behind Leppa and Oyester44 are launching a try-out of Lepski – the winter edition of Leppa. Lepski is a kind of mulled apple wine: warm vodka with apple. Mulled wine, only better. And “better”, that too. ‘Lepski is made from the natural salty vodka Oyester44 and the juice of apple peels and cores. Without added sugars and other junk, Lepski is a warm, healthy winter variant for Glühwein ‘, says Liselotte van der Lugt, co-founder of Leppa.

When last week selling Glühwein suddenly “illegal” it was decided to help the entrepreneurs in the catering industry: an empty unique liter bottle of vodka – with a cap, yes – to sell the warm Lepski. Problem solved. Or so they thought. Because well, then the new measures from last Tuesday came into play. Due to the enthusiastic reactions of the catering partners of the beverage brands, the entrepreneurs decided to take a different approach. No problem, because in recent times they have learned to switch quickly, according to the team. Instead of closed liter bottles, Rutger Homan, Liselotte (Leppa) and Chris Liebau (Oyester44) winterglow packages containing a DIY kit to make Lepski. ‘That’s the exciting thing about this time as an entrepreneur, you try something new, but the next day you have to take other measures into account. Logical and of course we do everything necessary to combat corona. It makes us inventive: challenge accepted – time and time again, ‘says Homan, founder Leppa.

Five years ago, Rutger was drinking in London’s Shoreditch “mulled apple juice“. Warm apple juice with vodka is also a favorite for après-ski in many winter sports areas. The link between the traditional Dutch brands Leppa and Oyester44 was quickly made: the brands both only use natural products and are made (by hand) with a lot of love. Moreover, the juice from Leppa consists of skins and cores and no sugar and preservatives are added.

‘And that is a very nice combination with my salty Zeeland-Brabant vodka. In any case, it is nice to make a “conscious” winter cocktail in collaboration with Leppa, but it is also very tasty. I knew that my vodka with apple juice tasted really good, but it tastes even better hot now, ‘says Chris Liebau, founder of Oyester4.
