Tea to go: How Messmer Tee wants to refresh its image

On the way to work or after the lunch break – a quick coffee to go has become an integral part of everyday life for many coffee drinkers. But those who prefer tea usually prefer to consume it at home or in a café rather than on the go. Tea to go – this is a drinking habit that has not yet been so widespread in Germany, says Annemarie Leniger, head of the East Frisian Tea Society (OTG).

Leniger wants to change that with the traditional Messmer tea brand, which accounts for the largest part of the annual production of ten billion infusion bags at OTG. To this end, a newly developed product line called “Cold Tea” was launched on the market in spring: a tea bag that converts water into iced tea without boiling it
