The German postal service and their parcel subsidiary DHL always have a lot on their minds before Christmas. This time, the rampant corona virus intensifies the flood of parcels for the delivery driver, while shareholders sense an opportunity at the highs from 2017.

Until the turn of the year 2017/2018, the German postal serviceShare made a straight uptrend and reached its last high at EUR 41.36. A consolidation movement set in over the next two years, which finally culminated in a low of 19.10 euros in mid-March due to the corona. Since then, however, the security has no longer had a hold and in just a few months even rose temporarily above the barrier of EUR 41.36. Since the end of August the value has consolidated sideways below this striking resistance. Apparently, the bulls are gathering strength for a subsequent increase, the current weekly candle is particularly noticeable, with its price around the annual highs from 2017/2018. A breakout above this could generate a fresh buy signal in the medium term.

Reserve for 2021

Great signals are hardly to be expected this year, as the major investors are shaking their sails at the end of this week. For next year, however, the return of institutional investors could lead to renewed buying interest. A price increase above EUR 42.50 at least at the weekly closing price would reinforce the assumption of a positive dissolution of the ongoing consolidation and as a result could generate a buy signal at the current annual high of EUR 43.50. An increase in the range of 45.27 euros would be conceivable; in the medium term, targets of 49.71 euros are to be found at Deutsche Post. The trading range between 37.29 and 42.50 euros is to be assessed as neutral in the short term. Discounts on the highs from the end of 2019 at 35.00 euros, on the other hand, only threaten if this range is left on the downside.

  • Resistances: 42.00; 42.50; 43.50; 44.12; 44.91; 45.27 euros
  • Supports: 41.36; 40.56; 39.49; 38.64; 38.00; 37.29 euros
