It already seems clear: Covid-19 marks the transition to a new world of work. The Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO) and the German Association for Personnel Management (DGFP) conducted a study in May 2020 to examine what the first lessons for the future will look like. According to the information, almost 500 companies of various sizes and industries shared their previous findings on the subject of “Working in the corona pandemic – on the way to the New Normal”.

Lessons from the Corona crisis

A central question was: What did your company learn from the Corona crisis? Seven answers were given. This is how high the approval rate was (“totally agree” / “somewhat agree”):

Working time in the home office

42 percent of those surveyed stated that their company will probably offer more home offices in the future. This question had not yet been decided for 44 percent.

The fact that so many people have switched to the home office is reflected in the answers about how the Corona crisis has affected working hours:

  • Employees work increasingly at unusual times of the day: 66 percent
  • Employees work increasingly on weekends: 30 percent
  • Employees are working more and more overtime: 31 percent
  • Employees work less (because activities are not possible or take vacation / work less overtime): 44 percent

According to the information, the survey took place from May 4th to May 24th.
