SMT Scharf reports an order worth millions: The mining technology group from Hamm will, according to its own statements, “develop and produce electrically powered truck loaders, so-called LHDs, as well as medium-performance underground trucks as prototypes for Polymetal International”. These are to be delivered by October next year and then used in gold mining in Russia.
SMT Scharf puts the order value at 4 million euros.
“In underground mining, the reduction of greenhouse gases and the associated improvement in working conditions underground are gaining in importance. Mine operators are thinking intensively about converting their fleets to electric, ”says Hans Joachim Theiss, CEO of SMT Scharf AG. “Our goal is to position SMT Scharf even more strongly on the market in the field of electrically powered vehicles for underground mining. To this end, we will continue to advance the development of electrically powered commercial vehicles as part of our cooperation with Polymetal, ”said the manager.
