The insolvent travel agency chain STA Travel has sold part of its nationwide branch network. 26 branches with around 120 employees will be taken over by Cockpit-Flug & Touristik GmbH, as the company specializing in student trips announced in Frankfurt on Wednesday. The travel agency chain, which originally had 42 branches in Germany, had applied for insolvency under self-administration during the Corona crisis in August.
“We are relieved and happy that despite the crisis in the travel industry we have managed to keep a large part of our branches and jobs,” said Reinhard Kotzaurek, managing director of STA Travel GmbH, according to the announcement. This will allow the “STA” brand to continue to exist in the German travel market.
Cockpit-Flug & Touristik GmbH is a company of the NTRV group. Behind it are an airline ticket wholesaler and an association of tour operators and travel agencies.
