Lufthansa reports increasing bookings again. “In the past week, up to 400 percent more people have booked destinations overseas and southern and northern Europe than in the previous week,” said the MDAX-listed aviation company on Thursday. Compared to “normal” times, the numbers are likely to remain at a rather low level. Lufthansa does not provide specific figures.
There was particular demand for flight destinations in South Africa (Cape Town, Johannesburg), Namibia (Windhoek), the Canary Islands, Madeira and sun destinations in the Mediterranean, but also areas with guaranteed snow in northern Finland, according to the company.
“The longing to travel is great worldwide. As soon as travel restrictions fall, we see a significant increase in bookings. This is especially true for the holiday season around Christmas and New Year. Taking into account the highest hygiene and safety standards, we want our guests to fulfill their holiday dreams wherever possible. We will therefore continue to adapt our flight plans flexibly to demand at short notice in the coming weeks, ”says Harry Hohmeister, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
Due to the increasing demand, Lufthansa now wants to increase capacities again. With existing connections one wants to increase frequencies, also the group announces the new and re-opening of destinations in Europe.
