The equity markets are currently lacking wit. This is especially true for the European equity barometers. DAX® & Co have been commuting within a narrow range for days. The US barometers are regularly reaching new highs. This reluctance could also shape the market tomorrow. In the coming week, meanwhile, there are numerous important economic data and the ECB interest rate decision. They could possibly give the local markets a significant boost before Christmas.

On the bond market, the majority of European government bond yields turned south. The yield on 10-year federal bonds fell to minus 0.55 percent. In the case of precious metals, the picture was again divided into two parts. The price of gold creeps up cautiously and palladium left the US $ 1,000 mark behind. Meanwhile, platinum and silver had to accept slight cuts. At the oil price, the bulls showed up yesterday evening and drove the price for a barrel of Brent Crude Oil to 48.70 US dollars at times. Today the oil price was just below the level. If the OPEC + states agree on a joint funding strategy for the next few months, the breakout above the resistance level of 49.20 US dollars could succeed. Meanwhile, the euro / US dollar exchange rate continued its upward trend and improved over the course of the day to 1.216 US dollars.

Company in focus

Daimler is confident about the coming year. Group leader Ola Källenius mainly relies on China. After the latest price rally, the paper is currently fluctuating between EUR 55.80 and EUR 58. The German Lufthansa reported a significant increase in bookings over Christmas and New Years. K + S agreed in a settlement with the community of Herleshausen. According to this, the sinking of salt wastewater into the subsoil should be ended by 2021. The share was one of the strongest stocks in the MDAX® in November. However, the stock is currently taking a break. Merck announced a cooperation with Artios Pharma in the field of DNA repair mechanisms. The news was well received by investors and the stock improved by over two percent. Janssen Research has EU approval for Tremfya for the treatment of active psoriatic arthritis. Tremfya is based on antibody technology from Morphosys. The good news did not, however, stimulate Morphosys shares. The share of the German biotechnology group is currently lacking the upward momentum. Above EUR 95, buyers could find courage again. Siemens Healthineers was supported by positive analyst comments.

Tesla accelerated strongly in the first hours of trading after positive analyst comments.

The DAX® got off to a weak start in the market today and then fluctuated between 13,220 and 13,280 points. The short-term downward trend thus continued. A change in mood can only be seen above 13,300 / 13,320 points at the earliest. If the index falls below 13,230 points, there is a risk of a major setback
