Rational: “The demand remains – the location and type of catering change”

Kitchen builder Rational presented figures for the third quarter of 2020 on Tuesday. Sales fell from 213.2 million euros to 168.2 million euros, but were able to increase the total compared to the second quarter. “The reasons for this are the relaxed corona restrictions in many markets, the positive development of summer business for many of our customers and, last but not least, the introduction of the new product generations iVario and iCombi,” says Rational CEO Peter Stadelmann.

On a nine-month basis, the company has a turnover of 466.3 million euros after 612.6 million euros in the same period of the previous year. Before interest and taxes, Rational’s operating profit fell from 159.5 million euros to 64.4 million euros. The third quarter accounted for 36.8 million euros of this after 61.3 million euros in the same quarter of the previous year.

An outlook for 2020 cannot be given due to the uncertainties in the wake of the corona pandemic, according to the company, with reference to the pandemic, which is once again critical. However, stay positive in the long term. “Even if people don’t eat as much in the restaurant, on the plane or in the company canteen, you will still be hungry. Instead, you will have something delivered or something warm to take with you along the way. The demand remains – the location and type of catering change, ”says Stadelmann.
