Reckitt Benckiser benefits from Corona

Reckitt Benckiser, producer of the disinfectant Sagrotan, continues to grow rapidly. The company also sold significantly more than expected in the third quarter – thanks to the crisis.

Sagrotan manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser continues to benefit from strong sales of its hygiene products and disinfectants in the corona pandemic. The British have therefore raised their sales forecast for the current year.

The good development in the first half of the year continued in the third quarter, explained CEO Laxman Narasimhan on Tuesday. The company is therefore now aiming for comparable sales growth in the low double-digit percentage range for 2020. Previously, Reckitt Benckiser had assumed a high single-digit increase.

Reckitt Benckiser: Hygiene division grew by almost 20 percent

In the third quarter, sales rose by almost 7 percent to 3.5 billion pounds sterling (around 3.9 billion euros). On a comparable basis, the group achieved growth of 13.3 percent, which was well above market expectations.

The growth driver was the hygiene division with a comparable growth of 19.5 percent, followed by the health business, which grew by 12.6 percent. In addition to the disinfectant Sagrotan, Reckitt Benckiser is known for its antiseptic soaps and disinfectants from the Dettol brand. Other well-known brands are Calgon, Clearasil, Vanish and Durex.
