The Metro Group is expanding: The German wholesaler is planning to take over a supplier of food from Portugal. The price of the purchase remained a secret at first.
With the takeover of the food supplier Aviludo, the German wholesale group Metro is expanding its business in Portugal. Metro did not provide any information about the purchase price in its statement on Monday morning.
The company, which specializes in hospitality customers and is based in Quarteira in the Algarve, should remain largely independent and continue its brand, according to Metro. According to this, Aviludo supplies more than 13,500 customers with a focus on restaurateurs, canteens and restaurant chains. In 2019, the company achieved net sales of 152 million euros.
The transaction has yet to be approved by the authorities, then it could be completed in the first half of next year. The Metro Group already owns Makro Portugal with ten stores. The transaction should be completed in the first half of 2021.
