A whole lot of positive news comes from the Canadian today Aurora Solar Technologies (TSX-V ACU / WKN A14T2F)! Not only can the company’s team of scientists be significantly strengthened and intellectual property rights expanded, but Aurora has also announced that it has received an order for another measuring device.
In fact, an existing customer ordered a machine of the type DM-110h, which is to be used in solar cell and module research and development. Aurora expects the system to be used in the development of advanced solar cells for use in the customer’s solar panels that will be marketed worldwide! The great benefit and quality of the Aurora system is thus once again confirmed in our opinion!
In order for Aurora to remain at the forefront of research and development of new technologies in the solar sector in the future, the company has expanded its capabilities in this area through the access of Dr. Divya Ananthanarayanan strengthened. As part of her doctoral thesis, Ms. Ananthanarayanan researched the interaction of infrared light with diffused, structured silicon solar wafers (solar cell raw material). And that’s exactly the scientific method used in Aurora’s DM systems! Ms. Ananthanarayanan has broken new ground in this area and with Auroras Dr. Johnson Wong developed an approach that is now being used in the DM product line to increase measurement accuracy and expand the company’s ability to measure quality-critical properties of silicon wafers in real time.
Last but not least, Aurora was able to report that both the Taiwan Patent Office and the Chinese Patent Office have the patents for the “Mapping of Measurement Data to Production Tool Location and Batch or Time of Processing” (assignment of measurement data to the location of the production tools and the batch or at the time of processing) that Aurora already holds in the US. It describes the company’s method of intuitively displaying data and monitoring the performance of solar cell manufacturing equipment using measurements of the quality critical parameters as provided by the company’s DMTM measurement systems. The new patent extends Aurora’s portfolio to include process visualization and control (software) and is therefore of great importance.
Aurora’s CEO Gordon Deans sees all these developments as an opportunity for his company to expand its competitive advantages and to position Aurora products for both current and, above all, future solar cell technologies. An important factor in the technology sector!
Aurora had recently supplied a large number of DM measurement systems to numerous different first-time customers in China. Once the picking of the devices has been completed, it is assumed that these customers will recognize the full advantages of the machines – and thus the basis for further, ongoing sales can be laid. And not only for the hardware but also for the software (InsightTM) from Aurora!
