Member of the Bundestag Frank Schäffler unpacks: Wirecard sloppiness at the Bafin?

Dear investors,

the answer of the federal government to a small inquiry from the FDP financial expert Frank Schäffler has now for the first time made clear the extent of the trading of Wirecard securities by employees of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). In the first half of 20, 56 employees reported a total of 196 private Wirecard-related transactions – after only 137 transactions from 41 employees in the entire previous year. This corresponds to an increase in private Wirecard transactions of around 40 percent. The authority now wants to review these transactions separately. In the response of the Federal Government it is said that for private financial transactions with reference to Wirecard, which were reported by the BaFin employees in the years 2018, 2019 and in the first half of 2020, “a special evaluation has been initiated which is not yet completed”. See this and other statements from Mr. Schäffler in our latest video on my colleague Mick Knauff.
