Telefonica Deutschland and Deutsche Telekom have signed a new ten-year cooperation agreement. The existing cooperation will be expanded, it is said. “The contract also enables O2 to market fiber optic house connection services (FTTH) from Telekom to its customers in the future. In addition, O2 will continue to use VDSL and vectoring wholesale products from Telekom, ”said Telefonica Germany on Wednesday. Financial details of the contract are not presented.
The authorities, especially the Federal Network Agency, still have to give the green light for the new contract. Telefonica Deutschland and Deutsche Telekom assume that the cooperation can start under the new conditions in spring 2021.
“The long-term cooperation with Deutsche Telekom gives us planning security. In future, we will be able to offer our O2 customers access to the fiber optic network, especially in large cities, ”said Markus Haas, CEO of Telefónica Deutschland / O2.
