The car manufacturer BMW presented sales figures for the third quarter on Wednesday. Group-wide, sales climbed by 8.6 percent to 675,680 vehicles. With a sales increase of more than 31 percent to 230,612 units, the Chinese market was the growth driver for the Munich-based car manufacturer. The number of electrified cars in this period was 54,719 – an increase of 46.6 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. For the core brand BMW, the company reports a 9.8 percent increase in sales to 585,336 units.
“Despite the ongoing effects of the corona pandemic, we managed to increase our sales in the third quarter compared to the previous year thanks to our strong model range,” said Pieter Nota, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for customers, brands and sales. “We are extremely satisfied with the sales growth of almost fifty percent for electrified vehicles. This makes electromobility a substantial growth driver. We have been able to deliver around 10,000 fully electric MINI since the beginning of the year. That shows how popular this vehicle is with our customers ”, says the manager.
