The new committee should clarify by the summer break whether politics has failed in the Wirecard scandal. The body met for the first time on Thursday – and there was a heated argument about who should chair it.
Berlin – The matter is complex and opaque. But there is not too much time left to get to the bottom of things: On Thursday, the new Bundestag investigation committee will meet for the first time on the scandal surrounding the collapsed financial services provider Wirecard. The committee is to investigate the question of whether the federal government as well as federal and state authorities should have known that the former Dax group from Aschheim near Munich was not doing a lot with the right things. There is a suspicion that politicians and supervisors were far too lax with a supposedly model company.
