Excellon Resources is strengthening itself with a new COO and CFO

Excellon Resources (TSX: EXN, EXN.WT; NYSE: EXN; FRA: E4X2) appoints Paul Keller, P. Eng. as Chief Operating Officer and Alfred Colas, CPA, CA, as Chief Financial Officer. Paul Keller has already started work. Alfred Colas will join the company in mid-October. Former CFO, Anna Ladd-Kruger, has stepped down to take on a CFO role at McEwen Mining. Ms. Ladd-Kruger will join the company’s Board of Directors as a non-independent director with immediate effect.

Paul Keller is a professional engineer with over 30 years of industry experience. He is a seasoned mining executive with experience in mine development and operations in North America, Africa and Latin America. Most recently, he was Senior VP Major Projects and COO of Trevali Mining, a zinc producer with four commercial operations in Africa, Canada and Peru. Keller led the development of Trevali’s Canadian and Peruvian projects from approval to development and operations. He was also instrumental in optimizing the business of Trevali’s African operations. Keller has expertise in mine construction from the earliest stages through to the approval, design, and operations phases, as well as developing operations teams. He was the COO of several junior mining companies and held various management positions in operations, engineering and maintenance at Barrick’s Hemlo Mine after starting his career at Rio Algom Limited. Mr. Keller holds a BS in Engineering – Mining from Laurentian University.

Alfred Colas is a seasoned financial executive, most recently the CFO of Arch Corporation, a Toronto-based private equity investment firm and asset manager. Mr. Colas joined the founder in founding the company and led the establishment of a subsidiary in the Dubai International Financial Center, where he acted as the company’s ambassador to investors and served on the local board of directors. Colas has more than 18 years of experience in the mining industry, most recently as VP and CFO of First Nickel, a TSX-listed junior nickel and copper producer, and as the controller of Rainy River Resources, a junior gold exploration company, where he was successful More than $ 130 million in equity funding contributed. He also spent 13 years with Barrick, including three years as CFO of Barrick’s Veladero Mine, where he was a member of the executive team that successfully restructured the operation and generated revenues of over $ 1 billion.
