Shop Apotheke Europe reports an increase in sales from 338 million euros to 465 million euros for the first half of 2020. The number of active customers has increased by 31 percent to 5.5 million, according to the company – of which 500,000 new customers were acquired in the second quarter of 2020. On an adjusted EBITDA basis, Shop Apotheke Europe was able to improve its operating half-year result by almost 21 million euros and reports a profit of 11.3 million euros. A profit of 4.5 million euros is reported before interest and taxes compared to a loss of 16.9 million euros in the same period of the previous year. The bottom line is that the adjusted loss drops from 19.9 million euros to 3.1 million euros.
“We experienced an exceptionally successful first half of the year. We were able to significantly expand our market share and at the same time pushed ahead with our strategy of further developing Shop Apotheke Europe into a customer-centric e-pharmacy platform. We are therefore very confident about the rest of the year. We have adjusted our targets for 2020 as a whole accordingly, ”says Stefan Feltens, CEO of the company.
The company had the new forecast announced on July 24th. For 2020, Shop Apotheke Europe is now aiming for a sales increase of 30 percent after 20 percent previously. Previously, a positive adjusted EBITDA was expected, now the margin should be between 1 percent and 2 percent.
