What is the latest news at DPG Media?
In recent months we have been busy integrating Sanoma into DPG. A beautiful and fascinating process, because it forces us to look critically at ourselves again. Where are we on-par, where should we kick ourselves and where else can we distance ourselves?
What marketing challenge does DPG currently face and what role do you play in this?
Our business customers increasingly want to go beyond the use of media alone. They are looking for a commercial partner who also thinks and undertakes with regard to concept and conversion. As director of business development, I can help with this with our wide range of brands and specialisms. A joy to do, because the conversations go so much deeper than just the flat deal.
Nima Marketing Week takes place both live and online this year. What do you think of this setup?
Considering corona logical and sensible. I am, however, in favor of live events. Especially in a digital age face-to-face contact extra valuable.
Why are visitors wise to come to your talk?
I hope because I have a good and meaningful story. In any case, I promise that I will be extremely honest and dare to kick sacred houses. Unfortunately we have many contributors in our profession who benefit from whipping up hypes. Sin and unnecessary.
Which other session would you recommend and why?
I’ve always been fascinated by stories from companies that dare to play offensive marketing. Corendon does that, so I will definitely have a look at Corné Hoogendoorn’s talk. They are experiencing tough times due to corona and that is precisely why the brand innovates and tries to tackle new things. Sometimes they hit their noses, but it is always with an open mind. A relief in a profession where fear too often predominates.
How long do you stay on the drink afterwards?
We have to see that this time. Much depends on the level of Luuk Ros’s jokes (organizer, ed.). Let’s see if corona did him any good.
