In his own words, McDonald’s is reaping the benefits of its strategy to respond to the fast-growing delivery market. The fast food chain expects to realize 150 order points with delivery partners Uber Eats and Thuisbezorgd.nl by the end of this year, a tripling compared to the beginning of 2019.
Annemarie Swijtink, director of marketing, communication and insights at McDonald’s Nederland, indicates that McDelivery has long been a priority for the company. “The delivery market is a huge growth market. Dutch people like to have their food delivered when they want a nice meal, but do not want to cook. With McDelivery we respond to this need and this is appreciated. We now deliver over 10,000 Big Macs per week. ”
McDonald’s delivery service will accelerate upscaling in 2020, says Swijtink. ‘At the end of last year we started working together with Uber Eats with Thuisbezorgd.nl. Together with our franchisees and delivery partners, we have been able to offer McDelivery in even more places, which means we can now offer more guests a spontaneous moment of happiness. ”
McDelivery is now available in 25 Dutch cities, the average spending per order is increasing and the average number of orders per restaurant per week has grown by 56 percent in 2019, McDonald’s said. Although the way of ordering is relatively new, the Dutch mainly order the Mac classics: the Big Mac is the most popular, followed by the Chicken Mcnuggets. The most ordered is on New Year’s Day.
