Preliminary figures show that sales at LPKF Laser & Electronics in the second quarter of 2020 have dropped from EUR 36.3 million to around EUR 30 million. However, the total is within the expectations forecast by the company. Before interest and taxes, the company was able to increase its profit from 4.0 million euros to 5.2 million euros, thereby exceeding its own expectations. “The higher profitability is mainly due to the fact that measures to reduce costs had an effect and only a small proportion of large orders were included in sales,” said LPKF on Friday.
By contrast, the order situation was weaker: delays in projects in the Solar segment in the second quarter of 2020 caused a decline in order intake from EUR 24 million to EUR 18 million.
The company from Garbsen near Hanover wants to present complete figures for the quarter on August 5, 2020. “The forecasting ability for the current business year is still very limited, because the economic environment is still characterized by great uncertainties due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. The medium-term perspective for LPKF and in particular the growth prospects in the LIDE area remain unchanged, ”said LPKF Laser about the outlook.
