Südzucker announced figures for the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2020/2021 on Thursday. Mannheimers report a slight decline in sales from 1.68 billion euros to 1.67 billion euros. “While sales in the CropEnergies segment fell significantly and slightly in the Sugar and Fruit segments, they rose moderately in the Specialties segment,” said Südzucker. On an EBITDA basis, the company was able to increase its profit from 117 million euros to 134 million euros. The group’s operating profit is 61 million euros compared to 47 million euros in the same quarter of the previous year.
Südzucker confirms the forecast for the entire 2020/2021 financial year. Sales of between EUR 6.9 billion and EUR 7.2 billion and an operating profit of between EUR 300 million and EUR 400 million are expected. However, the outlook is limited: “Due to the corona pandemic and the associated high volatility in all segments, the forecast for the 2020/21 financial year continues to be characterized by great uncertainty,” said Südzucker.
