A seat in Besix for Etienne Schneider

Clearly, his political retirement leaves a lot of time for the former Minister of Finance. After accepting a place on the board of directors of Sistema and ArcelorMittal, the Luxembourger obtains a seat within the real estate group.

It seems that less than six months after ending his government representations, Etienne Schneider (LSAP) found time long. In a few weeks, here he went from the post of Minister of Health and the Economy, to functions among the boards of directors of ArcelorMittal, Sistema and now Besix. A final designation right when its role in the award of contracts for the construction of a Luxembourg satellite is controversial.

Within Besix, the 49-year-old socialist will replace (as an independent director) the Walloon businessman Jean St├ęphenne. For the real estate group, born in Belgium, the recruit seems to be of choice, and the official press release does not fail to evoke the qualities of the one who was Deputy Prime Minister: “He brings both a deep financial expertise and a vision with innovation and leadership. ”

Last May, the ethics council had already considered the new lines of the one who followed the teaching in Economics from ICHEC in Brussels and from Greenwich University in London. The opinion of the sages concerned the possibility for the former member of the government to create a public limited company, in this case SA Beta Aquarii (specializing in economic and commercial advice, and intermediation). The members of the council had then pointed out the vagueness of the texts framing the activities of the ex-members of political posts with high responsibility.

The latest news is that Etienne Schneider was still in the running for a position with the European Space Agency. An Esa of which he covets the general management.
