Shop Apotheke Europe presented the first key figures for the second quarter of 2020 on Monday. According to preliminary figures, sales have increased from EUR 164 million to EUR 233 million, the company reports. At the end of June there were around 5.5 million active customers. Compared to the end of 2019, the number had grown by 0.8 million, with 0.5 million new active customers added in the second quarter of 2020 alone.
“In a very challenging environment shaped by the social impact of the corona pandemic, we served more customers than ever in all seven countries in which we operate,” said Stefan Feltens, CEO of Shop Apotheke Europe. The development is above expectations, says Jasper Eenhorst, CFO of the company. “After an already strong start to the year, we were able to accelerate our growth again in the second quarter. While the positive development in March was primarily based on orders from existing customers, we took a record number of new customers through targeted measures in the second quarter, ”said the manager.
However, Shop Apotheke Europe does not provide a new forecast for 2020. Due to the capacity limits at the current location in Venlo, growth could possibly slow down in the second half of this year. Such an effect is temporary, the company said.
