(DH) – Last week, Guardian said it had started discussions with union delegations over a merger of its two sites in the Grand Duchy, those of Bascharage and Dudelange. The OGBL, which was awaiting a position from the leaders of the American company, has known a little more since the start of the week. And the merger of the two production units will not take long since the merger of Luxguard 1 and 2 will be effective from August 6.

“If there is only one float glass oven left, there will certainly be duplication of staff, also in terms of administrative activity. Then we fear a social plan, “said Alain Rolling, the deputy secretary general of the OGBL. During the press conference held on Wednesday, Alain Rolling reaffirmed that the Dudelange furnace was going to close while the future of that of Bascharage, which was to be replaced during the year 2022, remained in suspense for lack of investments.

At the moment, the American company seems to be focusing its efforts more on the side of Eastern Europe, since it is going to open a brand new factory in Poland, next to the already existing site of Czestochowa.
