From 1 July 2020, the Dutch residential and recreational sector will receive a strong boost. There is no limit to the number of meeting attendees, if everyone can keep a meter and a half away and reservations are made in advance. If that is not possible, a maximum number applies: 100 visitors inside, 250 outside. This also applies to catering, cinema, theater and parties. The food service industry, which has a turnover of 21 billion euros, is breathing with relief. Over the first two months of the corona lockdown, total revenue decreased by 74%. An uncertain time when large and small catering companies also had to reinvent themselves.

Willem Treep is a managing partner of The Food Line-up: a creative catering agency that focuses on offering better food during events. In recent months, there were no events and food festivals for the more than 150 independent chef and food truck entrepreneurs from the network. With two new initiatives, Table for 2 and The Food Pick-up, this should change again. With Table for 2, guests can dine in the middle of the dance floor, but also food confessions in a church or eat five-course desserts in special places in Amsterdam. The Food Pick-up makes staying home a party this summer and the food trucks roll through the crisis by entering the neighborhood with the tastiest world kitchens.

Anouk Snelders is founder and director of Health Food Wall with vending machines at Schiphol Plaza and Amsterdam UMC. The first healthy vending machine to offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals. The two-year-old start-up, which also installs vending machines at other hospitals, offices and university campuses, is rolling out a new range of innovative locker vending machines with RFID tags in combination with the Health Food Wall app or bank card. Users can not only find vegetarian and vegan meals, smoothies, snacks and juices in the smart vending machines, but also products such as masks or hand gel. Health Food Wall is a safe solution for canteens in all kinds of sectors. Het In the autumn, the meals under the Health Food Wall brand will be sold separately in retail stores of a supermarket formula.

Ernest van de Voort As a board member of Albron, he is responsible for business development, marketing and concept development at Albron. Under his leadership, the independently operating caterer has invested heavily in expanding its concept portfolio with self-developed food concepts such as The Green House, and with existing and new licenses with attractive street brands for the shopping centers of Unibail Rodamco. Albron launched the Shift Happens app in June, with which guests register for a shift in the company restaurant in order to have a corona proof lunch. Albron makes the app available for free to fellow caterers and company restaurants in-house. Clear protocols have been agreed on the layout of the “new” company restaurant. A special Albron team has helped all clients to set up the restaurants according to these standards and thus determine the capacity.
